Pistachio Flower Pot
This is a large, hand-built, stoneware flower pot with relief design. I glazed the outside with a light green that reminds me of pistachio, allowing the glaze to break over the design creating natural shadows. I left the inside bare and turned the pot into a planter by adding drainage holes.
7 1/2”" dia x 10".

I wanted to give the pot a unique look of being built. So I added a number of straps to the lip, and hand-rolled coils to the body, thinking of clock springs and toggle switches.
I tried to dust the glaze in a way to let it break against the edges and create shadows.
